Ways To Clean A Shower Curtain

There are some things that you can do to make your shower curtain last you longer. There are certain little helpful and handy hints that are designed to keep your bathroom looking clean.

Because the shower curtain is always exposed to water moulds usually form on it. One thing that you can do is to remove the curtain maybe once every two or three days and hang it out in the sun. It will get a chance to dry out completely and the sun will get rid of the germs and bacteria.

Another option is to wash your curtain whenever you do your laundry or more regularly if need be. The trick is adding a cup of vinegar and bleaching agent to your normal detergent. Throw in some white towels and load the machine to its usually capacity, if it still does not fill to capacity.

Hot water will damage the curtain as it might either melt or shrink in size. When you are drying do not throw it in the drier instead hang it out in the sun to dry.

After you are done washing soak it in salt water and vinegar and then hang it on the rod and leave it to dry from there. The function of the salt water and vinegar is to counter the formation of fungi and moulds.

You can use some of the sprays that are now available for use on shower curtains. The sprays serve the same function as the salt water and vinegar solution. The soap foam that tends to stick on the shower curtain should be washed down too.

Showers curtains are not that difficult to look after and they can last you a long time You will also find some great shower curtain ideas from any of the following: shower curtains, purple shower curtains liner, hotel hookless shower curtains

Quilted Shower Curtains Information

Do you want to know more about how to make quilted bathroom shower curtains? This is exactly where you will find what you are looking for. This post has been written with you in mind.

It is important to have all the necessary information before engaging in such an important and time consuming task. So if you can just take a few minutes to read right to the end and you will be glad you did.

You may have tried hard to find what you are looking for in stores to no avail – hence the decision to do it yourself. For example some of the visuals you may have in mind include purple shower curtains or hunter green hookless shower curtain {blended|accentuated|beautifully combined} with an array of colors but only to find that your local bathroom store doesn’t have them. How can you go around this? Simply do it yourself.

Here are some thought starters.

If you are looking for a lighter one try to avoid adding any kind of batting.

One of the most important prerequisites of a shower curtain is water proofing – so be careful with your stitching.

You can also make only a quilt top and a plastic curtain for a lining. Buy some rivets and then saw the quilt at the top to the lining.

Sewing the quilt to the lining can cause it to be porous, hence my recommendation to consider sewing the quilt at the top. Unless you have other methods to minimise the leakage.

You can then hide the seams by putting a backing on it especially if you decide to go with the quilted top.

Consider making the button holes to be on top of the hooks so you won’t have to stitch the quilt on the liner. This is good especially when cleaning trying to clean the curtain i.e. you can simply wash the liner separately.

About Greener Shower Curtains

In recent years people have started realising the importance of saving the environment any way they can. With that in mind, many house owners have started incorporating the “green” movement in their homes. It goes without saying then that shower curtains even your awesome mickey mouse shower curtian, especially plastic ones, also can be changed. Take a few minutes to read about some of the recommendations you can consider.

Plastic shower curtains are the number one culprit when it comes to gas or bad odour emission. They are particularly at their worst when they are fresh from the store. Let us delve right into our topic for the day.

Buying yourself a hemp shower curtain, especially if you live in a dry area, is a good idea. This is because it takes a long time to dry so if you are living in a wet climatic area you may end up throwing it away due to frustration.

Due to the amount of time it takes for it to dry up, it is possible for it to start developing some mold and may require regular washing. As you probably know continuous washing is not good for the fabric. You can find this one selling at about $90.

My best recommendation is for you to buy one made from cloth and not plastic. You can easily find a nylon one that dries quickly and machine washable. Find something that comes with a very tight weave and can repel water adequately. This could cost you something like $20. This is a good alternative to Hemp because it dries better and does not build up mold or soap scum. You can pick any color you want and any style like black and white traditional paisley fabric shower curtains  or simply find amazon shower curtain of your choice. While you are making your choices just make sure that it still enhances the look and feel of  your bathroom.

If you can’t part with plastic then you can buy a plastic shower curtain that don’t have the smell and are made to been “green”Another option is to simply buy yourself a plastic shower curtain that are made to be greener.
